Raphael started directing with home made short films until he went to university where he graduated with a BA in directing.
His graduation film Between Viewings won the Student RTS (Wales) and whilst still attending university he was hired to direct a series of 11 animations for Multinational company BAYARD in Paris.
Raphael’s work was then broadcasted in France and Canada for 2 years.
During that time he also directed his first feature film: Savages in Foreign Lands about the lost civilisation of the Canary Islands in the 1400s.
The film, distributed by ZED was released in cinemas in May 2017 for a period of 2 weeks and is currently being broadcasted on TV channels such as Direct+ and VTV.
This led to directing a dozen of short films and adverts with his work being selected into festivals around the world. Raphael has also have worked as a camera operator for the French TV series Mado on a couple of episodes and as a camera assistant on many films and tv series for BBC World, Fox, ITV, Nissan, S4C and Starz prior to that.
Raphael is currently studying at the National Film and Television School on the fiction directing course.
He focuses his work on historical films and dramas.
